Mjrlin of Rabanastre
๐Ÿ•ฎ

A wily wizard sentenced to death and seeking asylum far from an occupied home, gorging himself upon the knowledge of foreigners and playing the blissfully ignorant while waiting for his kin to join him.Yet, if he but looked to them, he would realize that those he sought to protect were already lost. His books left a stronger sense of legacy behind than his own blood in their shared homeland until they too were razed with the Royal City.A man convinced there is no part for him to play but that of the listless and babbling fool, waiting for the Mother of All to embrace him with what dignity remains or to offer new purpose with what few years he has left.

โ€œYou, who walk into anotherโ€™s home, these sacred grounds, expectant. Knowing no shame. Knowing no cause or risk but your own, what you seek..." - Asje

The Wily Wizard at a glanceโœ‘

The magus passes for a Hyur quite well and without the need for much glamours when he stuffs his leporine ears beneath his wizard's cap. Though somewhat youthful in appearance still compared to other elderly Spoken, his age shows in his crow's feet, worry lines, and glassy eyes. His greyed, wiry beard is lengthy, often braided at the end and reaching towards his abdomen.

โœ‘ For Those in need of Counsel: When you live as long as Mjrlin has, you begin to reflect upon others' and your own mistakes until you can descern which are fine to make and which are best left avoided entirely. Though there are no doubt folks wiser than he, Mjrlin is ever ready to share his own wisdom if he's able to. Should he have no advice to give, he'll be the first to state his utter ignorance and offer a shrug.โœ‘ For Those Yearning of Magicks: If you are seeking a mentor in magicks, it's best to look elsewhere unless you can absorb knowledge in a very offhanded manner. There will be no dedicated lessons, simply long, tangential lectures and a demonstration at random and an expectation to recreate it the same if not better. In failure, you will be met with frustration. Tread wisely.โœ‘ For Those of Sharlayan: About sixty years prior, Mjrlin set off to enroll as a foreign student and sought a new wealth of knowledge in New Sharlayan to potentially bring home. However, during the occupation of Dalmasca, his texts of Dalmascan fables retold had been considered dangerous Royalist propaganda with most copies being burned. Considering his safety and seeing himself as a possible bridge for his kin still in Dalmasca, he followed the exodus to Old Sharlayan by riding on the coattails of a close associate. Few of his books translated from Old Dalmascan to Eorzean Common may be found in the Gubal Library, but are often passed over due to their excessively flowery language and esoteric descriptions making reading comprehension especially troublesome.โœ‘ For Those of the Kingdom of Dalmasca: Seeing as Mjrlin ventured from the desert kingdom about sixty years ago, it's unlikely for many Dalmascans to have met Mjrlin while he worked as a Librarian of the Great Library of Rabanastre. Even so, there had been ripples left by his writings with the pen name 'Mjrlin of Rabanastre' to leave his mark. Books on the basics of aether manipulation, Near Eastern arcanima techniques, and other magicks written in a most befuddling manner were allowed to stay on shelves during the occupation, but his retellings of Dalmascan folktales and history were not.โœ‘ For Those of the Wood: Despite his age, this eccentric wizard is potentially the farthest a Viera can be from traditional. Leaving the Wood in his tender forties in fascination and search of the star's vast magicks, it might be assumed that he gave little care for the Green Word. Fellow exiles from the Wood may find difficulty finding common ground with the magus, but his hermit ways make it difficult for most.

Taro Roggo
๐“†

Taro's story begins much like that of a myth. As a lowly and simple wavekin, he had been driven solely by instinct and will to survive. He was a runt and ill-suited for the wilds which he feared so deeply, and so, he became especially adept at hiding. His humble abode, a small pond hidden by brush, gave a fairly good vantage point of his surroundings and was rarely visited save for vilekin which were attracted to the sweet nectar of the near wildflowers. At night, he'd croak a chorus and another fellow wavekin would answer with a verse of their own. And then another and another long into the night. As he grew plump upon tiny vilekin, he'd watch the larger pond where his fellow wavekin sang and saw the strange ones come and collect them one by one until the area became near barren. He croaked and croaked, but none were to answer his chorus this time.He could not, did not, understand: What is this gnawing inside which rings hollow? He croaked, alone he assumed, and a strange one crooned. Again he croaked, this time a different timbre, and the strange one cooned again in such a complimentary, melodious manner. They had a duet from sunset to sunrise, and slowly that gnawing hollowness within the wavekin started to melt away. Spellwork settled in and warped him in a manner most dizzying and when he came to, the strange one was holding his webbed fingers gently between her index and thumb."No longer alone, Taro Roggo," the strange one muttered softly to the newly quickened poroggo. For the first time, he came to understand that feeling: He was lonely. And then came a beautiful dream: To bring company to other lonely souls with the gift she gave him.

โ€œOft times the most daring deeds involve being the first to offer a hand or to take the first step forward; to bring joy in times of deepest sorrow. You needn't be a slayer of foul beasts and evils to be a hero, Taro." - Yagmirtha the Earnest

The Amphibious Familiar at a glance๐Ÿ•ฎ

A tiny thing and easily missed save for his shrill, croaking voice. Large, round, hopeful eyes of amber with pupils as deep as the Ridorana Cataract. He holds his chest high with pride and his head higher whilst wearing the felt wizard's hat made by his newly contracted master.

โœ‘ For Those Yearning for a Hero: Taro believes in himself and his abilities enough to take on the jobs one might offer at the Adventurers' Guild. That being said, most of these tasks he's completed so far have been no more than errands and playing messenger but the familiar believes it all to be a part of a grand quest. To offer a leve or join him in this quest, he will surely welcome the assistance to create a daring band of misfits and see that they all become saviors of the realm, fit for being immortalized in bard tunes.โœ‘ For Those wanting Magick Baubles: Ever wishing to represent his current master's products, he regularly advertises her spell-stones and caries a small sackful in the hopes of a curious buyer. In a pinch, he might even use some of them himself.โœ‘ For Those interested in Taste Testing: Oddly, this amphibious familiar has a keen interest in the culinary arts. Ever trying to improve upon his skills, should one be willing to vouch for both taste and nutritional value of his experimental dishes while also offering constructive criticism, he would surely cook a meal for them.โœ‘ For Those in need of a Friend: His previous master ever taught him to be a beacon to those in their darkest of days. Share your thoughts, your feelings, your dreams and this familiar will wish to encourage you through all the pitfalls and hurdles. And when you succeed, he shall be the first to cheer.

Thank you for visiting this Carrd.

โ– Interested in a character here but have a hook not listed? Let's chat!โ– I drew the art (front page line drawings and Taro Roggo drawing) on this carrd, please don't repost or use them without my permission. Thank you!โ– If you are interested in meeting one of these characters, it would be best to contact me via Discord to set up interactions (a planned scene or with just a meeting place and time picked) as more often than not, I'll be idling on my main. Feel free to contact me in-game as well if you'd like to set something up!โ– I promise that Taro Roggo is a serious character. I know the Toad Suit looks a tad silly though! Hence why I use a few screenshots with an actual Poroggo model to represent him in this Carrd.โ– I've RPed for handful of years on WoW and have been RPing on XIV for the past year or two. I have a deep appreciation and love for Dalmascan lore (and XIV's lore in general), so I try to abide by that lore. I'm not perfect though, so if I've made a mistake, please let me know! That being said, I am very open to extrapolating from the lore and bending it, so please feel free to share your headcanons.โ– I don't ERP and have no interest in it, sorry!โ– I'm definitely open to discord RP, but I do prefer RPing in-game because I can generally be a bit slow with discord RP replies. I operate on PST, and have my schedule below. I understand that it might seem limited, but I usually do have some wiggle room.โ– Long-term storylines are mainly what I'm looking for.โ– I am open to combat RP, I just ask that you ask before just killing off my characters! I'm extremely easygoing in combat RP as well and usually leave it up to the other player to decide. Rolling and emoting are both forms that I'm comfortable with utilizing!โ– Please contact me in-game for my discord tag! If you see this posted in a discord server, feel free to reach out (DND status is just to mute all notification sounds).

Hedwig Loth
โš˜

Hers is a tale that begins rather simply and dully. Days were spent working fields in the hamlet she was raised in when available hands were low or in her family's shop, The Hallowed Lantern. In the eves, she would practice numbers and letters, a luxury rarely afforded in her resident hamlet for those that stayed rather than attended an imperial academy. Fairly isolated, the hamlet became a brief safe haven for some fleeing Mage-knights and another, albeit less reputable, order. The successful invasion and conquering of Dalmasca by the Garlean Empire occurred when Hedwig was yet a young girl, and a prior call to action stirred the hamlet's community. Rallied Mage-knights departed, and those few that remained in the hamlet passed along their ways to the determined for they had not the strength or will to march onto the front themselves. From Squire to becoming a Dame of many hats, Hedwig fought for her pledged causes for the better part of two decades. Some of these causes have been relinquished, others have been ripped from her grasp, and the remaining serve as her resolve.

"Nothing lasts forever, Dame Loth. No matter how grand a dream may be achieved, all is fated to regress. But those who fight this current, I suppose, are laying the foundation of tomorrow's traditions." - Mordecai the Mercurial

The Wayfaring Antiquarian at a glance๐Ÿ•ฎ

Clad in courtly leathers and light armor, the woman has a knightly appearance which betrays her more roguish techniques of sorcery. Though reluctant to claim it herself, it is simplest to call and consider Hedwig a Mage-Knight of Landis.
.
A woman who clings to formalities and chivalric traditions of eld while trying to uncover arcane, eldritch mysteries left in the wake of forgotten histories.

โœ‘ For Those in the Trade of Relics:
Recently, most of Hedwig's coin has come through the odd selling or trading of antiques. In most cases, the Landisian will try to repair these objects from derelict to displayable before any deal is made. Whether it be to propose a trade of artifacts and rare tomes or to share a glimpse into the collections of one another, both will pique Hedwig's interest.
โœ‘ For Those of Expeditions:
To find subjects for conservation and resale or collecting, Hedwig is often scouring through ruins in her travels and during her free time. While she may not be a proper historian to academics, her general alchemical knowledge may aid in the restoration of dilapidated relics. At least, if the primary goal is to see metal shine with as close a luster as it had when it was new or to revitalize paint hues.
โœ‘ For Those Seeking Reagents:
Hedwig has an eye for high quality when it comes to herbal ingredients and minerals due to her trade, and oft ends up supplying others more than using the reagents herself. It's possible she might run into a gleaner when out on the field, and while it's unlikely that they will have time for the requests of a foreigner, any surplus they're willing to part with and sell will be greatly appreciated.
โœ‘ For Where she Hails From:
Those curious about Landis and even more so of Mannatheihwo and the neighboring farming hamlets will find a fast friend in Hedwig. Should one be from the same lands, she'd love to hear their tale and put it to pen and paper or simply exchange tales. Should they have passed through the neighboring hamlets to Mannatheihwo, it's also possible that they may have been a patron of the general shop that Hedwig worked in, The Hallowed Lantern. The Hallowed Lantern itself dealt in common pharmaceutical treatments, repairing clocks and footwear, and selling other general sundries.
โœ‘ For Those of War:
Hailing from the province of Landis, it is somewhat natural that Hedwig found battle as a constant companion in the wartorn lands held by the IVth Legion. Whether you served among the IVth's ranks or within the Resistance, and for weal or for woe, the two of you may have crossed paths before.
โœ‘ For Those of Faith:
Mentions of deities and religious practices are sure to be met with hesitation from Hedwig. In some cases, these mentions are even met with scorn or a gentle interrogation deeper into their beliefs.
